Paltrinieri Shines On Final Day of Morgan Hill Regional

MORGAN HILL, Calif. – Santa Clara men's golfer Julien Paltrinieri saved his best round for last to make a big jump up the final standings on the final day of the NCAA Morgan Hill Regional. The graduate student turned in the lowest score of the day of 5-under 67 and climbed a whopping 32 spots to finish the event in a tie for 24th at 5-over 71-83-67—221.

Paltrinieri's final round tied for the lowest 18-hole score of the entire tournament and included a total of seven birdies, including four out of five on Nos. 11-15. After a lone bogey on the par-4 10th, he was spotless for the rest of the afternoon.

Paltrinieri had the fourth-best finish among the group of 10 individuals playing the course. The top individual not belonging to a team punches a ticket to the NCAA Championship in Scottsdale, Ariz. That honor belonged to LMU's Riley Lewis, who won a 3-hole playoff to finish runner-up.

With the conclusion of his time at the NCAA Regional, Paltrinieri officially caps off what has been a stellar lone season as a Bronco. A native of Milan, Italy, he tallied a team-best eight top-20 finishes and led the team in stroke average at 71.69. Including the NCAA Regional, Paltrinieri tallied 17 rounds under par, with at least one in each event this season, and had eight rounds in the 60s.
