DAVIS - Through 13 holes today, the Broncos were cumulatively 11 over par but fought back going 7-under over the final five holes of their Final Round. They would end up at 4-over on the day and 5-over on the tournament to maintain their ranking, finishing in 9th place.
Viraj Garewal (69-72-72--213) was the top finisher for Santa Clara as he kept his great play up today with his second round of even-par 72 to place in a tie for 12th. He was the only Bronco this week to not have a double bogey or worse on their card. Finishing a shot behind Garewal and in a tie for 14th was Julien Paltrinieri (68-71-75--214). He struggled on the front nine going 5-over but kept it together and closed his round out with three birdies in his last four holes to post a Final Round of 3-over 75.
After getting off to a solid yet slower start on the first two days, Calder Overfelt (75-76-68--219) had an exciting end to his tournament with a 4-under 68 in the Final Round that included six birdies to tie him for 42nd. Eugenio Bernardi (74-72-77--223) also found some difficulty on the front nine today going 5-over but was even through his next nine holes to shoot a 5-over 77 and end up in a tie for 58th. Cameron Kaiser (82-77-78--237) stayed stead today finishing in 99th with a Final Round score of a 6-over 78.
Santa Clara (286-291-292--869) fluctuated in the rankings throughout the day but ended up in the same place they began the day in, 9th place, notably above 50th-ranked Cal. 45th-ranked San Diego climbed five spots today to win the title and three shots ahead of second. And after a playoff with San Diego's Andi Xu, UCLA's Omar Morales won the individual title at 13-under overall. Looking forward, the Broncos will take a two-week break before they play their final tournament of the year at the WCC Championship.
