Women’s Tennis Signs Four-Star Recruit with 14 National Doubles Titles
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis signed Giulia Hayer, a four-star recruit out of Canyon Crest Academy in San Diego to a national letter of intent.  Hayer, who is currently concentrating on the junior tennis tournaments, will join the Bronco program in January 2020 after graduating early.  Broncos head coach Ben Cabell made the announcement.

"I chose Santa Clara University because of the exceptional educational opportunities.  I love the size and location of the campus as well as the strong Jesuit values," said Hayer.

The right-handed Hayer has won a total of 14 national doubles titles including the 2017 and 2018 Anaheim national level 3 doubles championship and the 2017 Darling Memorial national level 3 doubles championship.

Hayer also was the 2017 Bryan Brother Doubles Race winner in the Girls 16s, a year long competition that rewards the top local junior competitors for their cumulative performance in doubles play.

During her junior season, Hayer helped lead Canyon Crest Academy to the school's first-ever CIF Open Division championship by winning the doubles championship and bringing an end to the 28-year reign of Torrey Pines.

"We are excited for Giulia to join the program.  She is going to start a little early joining us in January, which is great.  So she will be playing for us during the spring season and will add depth," said Cabell.  "Her playing style is aggressive as she comes forward and is quite an accomplished doubles player."
