SAN JOSE, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis picked up four wins on the first day of the San Jose State Fall Invite on Friday. The Broncos had a strong showing in doubles, winning three out of four matches and finished singles play going 1-5. Sophomore Jamie Schroer got a win each in doubles and singles.
In the morning session, Santa Clara played Pacific in doubles, followed by singles matches against host San Jose State in the afternoon in the hidden match format where the results do not count towards a dual meet record.
Against the Tigers, the Broncos swept the three doubles matches. Maddie Pothoff and Elvena Gevargiz defeated Elise Frigout and Maya Lopez, 6-4. Madison Clarke and Caitlyn Frankel blanked Dohee Lee and Anna Ramos Vinolas, 6-0. Katya Tabachnik teamed with Schroer to take down Hannah Ketcherside and Zoe Eberle, 6-0.
Lindsey Pesqueira and Lindsay Lynch played a one-off doubles match against San Jose State's Alb Pedrero Galindo and Lara Marco Mas and lost 6-0.
In singles action, Schroer beat Tamara Culibrk in three sets, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1 to earn a singles win for the Broncos against San Jose State.
Saturday's action starts at 9 a.m. with the Broncos taking court at non against SJSU in doubles.
