Women’s Tennis Topped by No. 35 Furman on Sunday
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis lost their second match against a ranked opponent in as many days, coming off a road loss at No. 40 San Diego on Saturday and falling to No. 35 Furman 6-1 on Sunday at the Degheri Tennis Center.  
 
Furman's (13-3) won the doubles point and took five of the six singles matches to extend their win streak to 11 matches.  Elvena Gevargiz picked up the singles win for Santa Clara (4-5) with a comeback victory over Mary Ann Rompf 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9) on court three.  
 
Georgie Walker was responsible for both clinching points, pairing with Rompf to defeat Caitlyn Frankel and Jamie Schroer 6-3 on court three to secure the doubles point.
 
Walker then clinched the match with her 6-2, 6-2 win over Katya Tabachnik on court five.  
 
In the final match of the afternoon, playing on court one, Maddie Pothoff took 16th-ranked Katarina Kozarov to three sets but fell short 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3).
