Women’s Tennis Signs No. 4 Ranked Texas Girls Player

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's tennis signed Katherine Petty, the No. 4 ranked Texas Girls player and a six-time state champion. Broncos head coach Ben Cabell made the announcement. Petty hails from Dallas, Texas and attends Highland Park High where she was voted team captain for the 2018-19 season.

"I chose Santa Clara because the environment and people there made me feel at home more than any other school did. Coach Cabell welcomed me on my visit and showed how amazing Santa Clara truly is. The excellent academics and Jesuit education furthered me to commit to this school," said Petty.

Petty is a four-time All-State selection having won two individual state championships along with leading Highland Park High to four state championships. The right-handed hitting Petty also took home the Gold Ball winning the USTA Winter National Doubles Championship in 2016.

"We are so excited to have Katherine join our team next season," said Cabell. "Katherine brings a lot of national experience and is an exceptional doubles player. She is going to make an immediate impact in our lineup."
