DAVIS, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis doubles team of Vasileios Iliopoulos and Arthur Neuhaus advanced to the finals of the A Draw and Jesus Tapiador Barajas made it to the semifinals of the singles A Draw in day two of the Aggie Invitational on Saturday.
Iliopoulos and Neuhaus won a pair of matches over West Coast Conference opponents, first over the Saint Mary's duo of Matis Bot and Karlo Divkovic, 8-7 (3), followed by an 8-6 triumph over Tadiwa Chinamo and Akram El Sallaly of Pacific.
They will face another WCC opponent, Tom Hann and Kostiantyn Nesterenko of Portland in the finals on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. PT.
Meanwhile, in singles play, Tapiador Barajas advanced to Sunday's semifinals after UC Davis player David Goulak had to retire due to an injury at 6-7(6), 4-3. Tapiador Barajas will face Nevada's Julien Evrard at 10 a.m.
Neuhaus looked to make it back-to-back days with three wins but had to settle for the two doubles wins after falling to Portland player Semen Pankin, 7-5, 7-6(2) in the singles quarterfinals.
The Broncos collected a total of five wins on the day with Iliopoulos and Santiago Hinojosa each getting a singles victory in the voluntary consolation bracket. Iliopoulos beat Arjith Jayaraman of UC Davis in three sets, 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 and Hinojosa won 6-4, 7-6(4) over Pacific's Tadiwa Chinamo.
The Aggie Invitational concludes on Sunday.
