Men’s Tennis Rolls Past Holy Names 7-0 on Sunday
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – For the second straight match, Santa Clara men's tennis (4-5) did not drop a set en route to a 7-0 sweep, this time against Holy Names (0-2) to complete a successful home opening weekend at the Degheri Tennis Center on Sunday.
 
Freshmen Ryan Ali and Matthew Rodriguez were in the starting lineups in both doubles and singles for the first time this spring and took advantage of their opportunities.  
 
Rodriguez teamed up with fellow freshman Mann Shah to blank Justus Drees and Giovanni Fragalle 6-0 at No. 3 to get the first Broncos doubles win on the day.  
 
Arthur Neuhaus and Vasileios quickly followed with a 6-1 win over Guillermo Romero and Javier Luque at No. 1 to secure the doubles point.  
 
In singles action, Jesus Tapiador Barajas handled Romero 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 to put the Broncos up 2-0 before Rodriguez picked up the third point with his 6-1, 6-4 triumph over Alfonso de Simon at No. 6. 
 
Santiago Hinojosa closed the door with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Dimitrije Vukovic at No. 3 to clinch the match.  
 
Ali played at the fifth position, handling Joseph Greco 6-3, 6-3.  
 
On Saturday, the Broncos swept Sacramento State 7-0.
