2019 ITA Northwest Regional Championships Draws/Results

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara men's tennis is back in action starting Friday at the ITA Northwest Regional Championships on the campus of Stanford University.   The five-day tournament will be played at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium.

"Some of the players have had two weeks, others have had three weeks without competition, so it's been an opportunity for us to really get back to fundamentals and improve our fitness," said Broncos head coach Niall Angus whose last full squad tournament was at the fall season opening Aggie Invitational in late September.  "The last couple of weeks have been a really good training block and they're in a good place to go and compete at one of the best tournaments of the fall."

The ITA Regional Championships feature some of the top men's and women's players across the country. Over 8,000 student-athletes from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, Junior and Community Colleges compete across 85 ITA Regional Championships around the country.  In Division I, regional doubles champions and regional singles champions and finalists qualify for the season-ending Oracle ITA National Fall Championships.

"The regionals is a chance to play against some of the nationally and regionally ranked players so it's a chance to showcase what Santa Clara tennis is all about competing against a high level of competition," said Angus.  "It's also a great opportunity to play some of the players that don't normally get a chance to play to test themselves."

The full eight-member squad is expected to participate in the tournament.
