NOTES

  • The Broncos are hitting the road for their first true road games of the season. First up is the short drive up to Berkeley to take on Cal inside Haas Pavilion on Saturday in a 6:00 p.m. tip. After that, Santa Clara will venture north to Boise State to take on the Broncos in a WCC-Mountain West match up.

  • Behind a big offensive night that saw five players score in double figures, Santa Clara picked up their seventh win of the season against Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday evening, defeating the Mountaineers 88-77. The Broncos are now 6-2 in home games and 1-1 in neutral games. They will have two opportunites in the coming week to pick up their first road wins.

  • The Broncos are going for win No. 8 on Saturday as they take on Cal. Santa Clara is currently 1-0 against Pac-12 teams this season with an 88-72 victory over Stanford on the resume. They are also 2-0 against Power Five programs with an 85-66 win over TCU in the SoCal Challenge in San Juan Capistrano.

  • Santa Clara took care of business in their last outing against Mount St. Mary's, winning 88-77. Five scorers - Jalen Williams, Keshawn Justice, Parker Braun, PJ Pipes and Carlos Stewart - all scored in double figures. It was the first game the Broncos have acheived that feat since last year's 95-86 win over Portland in the WCC Tournament.

  • Santa Clara is currently the nation's 10th best shooting team with a 50.5 percent mark from the floor, and their 78.9 points per game rank second in the WCC.

  • Jalen Williams,  a preseason all-conference pick after earning honorable mention honors a season ago, has been giving opposing coaches all sorts of headaches as they try to find ways to slow the junior down. He leads the WCC and ranks 25th nationally at 20.3 points per game and has five games of 20 or more points. He also ranks in the top 10 nationally in field goals made (8th), total points (7th) and free throws made (8th). Williams has a season-high of 30 points against Hawai'i and is coming another big night of 22 points and six assists against Mount St. Mary's.

  • Keshawn Justice has been Mr. Reliable for the Broncos this season. Not only is he getting the job done on the boards (20th nationally with 7.20 defensive rebounds per game), he has also excelled from beyond the arc with a 47.4 shooting clip (24th nationally). Justice leads the WCC with four double-doubles (19th nationally) with his lastest coming in his last outing against Mount St. Mary's (17 points, 10 rebounds). He is averaging a blistering 18.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per outing in the last five games.

  • Cal is currently 5-5 on the season and is coming off an easy 72-46 win over Idaho State. The Bears are averaging just 65.6 points per game (10th in Pac 12) but are playing well defensely with just 64.5 points against (5th in the Pac 12). Individually, Andre Kelly has been posting big numbers all season long. He is currently tied with Santa Clara's Keshawn Justice in both defensive rebounds per game (20th in NCAA with 7.2) and double-doubles (19th with four). He is the conference's leading rebounder with 92 total boards on the year.

  • The Broncos and Golden Bears have squared off 74 times throughout the years with Cal holding a 45-29 advantage in the series. Santa Clara was the victor in their last meeting, however, a 71-52 win on Dec. 7, 2019 inside the Leavey Center.
