Women's Soccer Beats Fresno State 6-2 in Exhibition Action

FRENSO, Calif. – Santa Clara women's soccer took care of business it its lone exhibition of the season, topping Fresno State 6-2 on the road Saturday night.

The the second-ranked Broncos got two first half goals from the dynamic duo of Kelsey Turnbow and Izzy D'Aquila who assisted on each other's tallies as well. The second half saw Santa Clara flex its depth with 12 different players seeing the field.  Marika Guay scored twice in the second half with Diana Morales and Nicole Sweeney each scoring one.

With it being an exhibition, the teams played four 25-minute quarters. The first half goals came in quick succession early in the second quarter. The first time D'Aquila found Turnbow who took a left-footed shot and beat the keeper in the 26th minute. In the 27th, Turnbow returned the favor by sending a long ball that D'Aquila ran down and finished to make it 2-0.

With 11 new players on the field to start the second half, the player they call Lefty, Morales, got the Broncos their third goal with her right foot off of some chaos in front of the net.

Guay made it 4-1 in the 59th on a beautiful shot from the left side of the box. Right near the edge, Guay smoked a shot into the far side of the net. She would scored again in the 85th off an assist from Riley Burrill.

Sweeney registered the final goal of the night in the 93rd on Burrill's second assist.

Fresno got its goals in the 46th off a free kick from just outside the box converted by Chais Wright and Jordan Brown added the second in the 79th.
