Reigning Champion Women's Soccer Headed Back to NCAA Tournament

Full Bracket | Tickets

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The reigning champs are dancing once again. For the 31st time in program history and 12th time in the last 13 years, Santa Clara women's soccer is headed to the NCAA Tournament. The Broncos will host No. 14 Stanford at 1 p.m. Saturday in the first round.

No. 15 Santa Clara (11-5-2, 8-1 WCC) is looking to repeat as National Champions, something no team other than North Carolina has done. Last year the Broncos run included beating five-straight Power-5 schools and four-straight teams ranked in the top-10, including the second-seeded Tar Heels and top-seeded Florida State in the title match.

The team is fresh off sealing a share of its second consecutive, and 12th overall, West Coast Conference Championship after beating Saint Mary's 2-1 in double overtime on Saturday.

The Broncos are peaking at the right time, having won eight of nine while outscoring opponents 23-6 during that span. They have posted five clean sheets during the run and have allowed multiple goals just twice.

As a team, Santa Clara has outscored its opponents 33-16 while holding a 327-141 advantage in shot and a 161-71 edge in shots on goal despite one of the toughest nonconference schedules in the country.

Kelsey Turnbow leads the team with nine goals, nine assists, and 27 points. Izzy D'Aquila is next with six goals and 15 points to go along with three assists. Alex Loera has added seven assists and scored twice, including the game-winner Saturday, for 11 points. Lucy Mitchell (4), Kaile Halvorsen (3), and Marika Guay (2) have all scored multiple goals with five others scoring one each.

Kylie Foutch has stepped into the starting role in net and made 34 saves while posting four shutouts.
