NOTES

  • The defending national champion and the No. 12-ranked Broncos are in the College Cup for the second year in a row for the first time since 2001 and 2002, and third time overall. A victory against West Coast Conference rival and 13th-ranked BYU in the semifinals sends Santa Clara to the national championship mtach on Sunday at 5 p.m. The other semifinal features a pair of top seeds in Rutgers and Florida State. The final will be held on Monday if No. 4-seeded BYU advances past Santa Clara.
  • Santa Clara beat No. 1-seeded Duke 2-1 in the quarterfinals for its ninth-consecutive NCAA Tournament match victory.
  • Santa Clara has been to 31 NCAA Tournaments, 12 College Cups (1989, 1990, 1992, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2020, 2021), and won two National Championships (2001, 2020). The program became just the seventh with two or more national titles. Only three teams have more. They have 62 NCAA Tournament wins.
  • Santa Clara is the host site for the NCAA College Cup for the second time. In 1996, the Broncos also advanced to play at home, losing to North Carolina in the semifinals.
  • The Broncos have won the West Coast Conference 12 times (1993, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2013, 2020, 2021).
  • Kylie Foutch was named the West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Kelsey Turnbow took home Offensive Player of the Week on November 1.
  • Turnbow is a semifinalist for the MAC Hermann Trophy and a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award. She was also named CoSIDA Academic All-West Region First Team.
  • Alex Loera and Kelsey Turnbow were named First Team All-West Region selections with Izzy D'Aquila being named to the second team and Makoto Nezu to the third team.
  • Alex Loera was named the WCC Defender of the Year for the third year in a row. She was named First Team All-WCC along with Kelsey Turnbow and Izzy D'Aquila. Kaile Halvorsen was named to the second team with Kylie Foutch and Lucy Mitchell taking home honorable mention. Colby Barnett and Karly Reeves were all-freshman.
  • Santa Clara is one of just three teams to make the third round in each of the last three years. The other teams are Florida State and Penn State. The Broncos are just one of five teams to make the third round of the NCAA Tournament five of the last six seasons. The other teams are North Carolina (2016-20), UCLA (2016-20), Florida State (2017-21), Virginia (2016-18, 2020-21), and Duke (2016-17, 2019-20).
  • Kelsey Turnbow is in fifth place at Santa Clara in career goals with 56. Next is Jenni Symons and Jacqui Little with 63 each. She is in now in fifth with 38 assists. Next is Aly Wagner with 49. Turnbow is also at 150 points, which is fifth. Next is Jenny Fechner's 156.
  • Turnbow is also tied for fifth in program history with seven postseason goals with Veronica Zepeda. Next is Kristi Candau, Mandi Clemens, and Little with eight. She is tied for eighth with five postseason assists with Kim Pickup. Next is Osborne and Nikki Serlenga with six. Her 19 postseason points are fourth. Next is Clemens and Little with 25.
  • Turnbow joined Mandy Clemens (67), Jenny Fechner (66), Jenni Symons (63), Jacqui Little (63), and Mikka Hansen (52) as the only Broncos in the 50-goal club with a pair of scores at Pacific.
  • Head coach Jerry Smith is in his 35th year. He has 523 career wins, the third most Division I wins in women's soccer history.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 9-3-5 all-time against BYU and 4-0 in the NCAA Tournament.
Earlier this year the Broncos topped the Cougars 1-0 at home.

TICKETS
Two NCAA College Cup semifinal matches will be held on Friday, Dec. 3, beginning at 4 p.m. in Stevens Stadium. The Rutgers-Florida State match will begin at 4 p.m. and the Santa Clara-BYU contest is set for 6:30 p.m. The national final is set for either Sunday, Dec. 5, or Monday, Dec. 6. Kickoff for the final will be 5 p.m. Either single-session or all-session tickets are available for purchase (UPDATE: The semifinals matches are sold out). PREGAME COLLEGE CUP CELEBRATION
Santa Clara will hold a celebration leading up to the NCAA College Cup semifinal match against BYU. The event will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Fountain on Abby Sobrato Mall. Food and drinks will be provided. Beer and wine will be available for purchase. Bronco T-shirts will be given away to the first 2,000 attendees. Noisemaker giveaways (vuvuzelas, thundersticks, & cowbells) are available while supplies last.

EVENT PROTOCOL
All Santa Clara Athletics home events will operate in compliance with state, county, and university COVID-19 guidelines. While masks are not required for outdoor events on campus, we highly encourage fans to wear masks especially when social distancing guidelines cannot be met or when others around you are eating or drinking. Seating in Stevens Stadium is general admission and we encourage everyone to utilize appropriate social distancing in the stands and common areas. Updates will be provided should there be an adjustment in protocol.
