DURHAM, N.C. – Santa Clara women's soccer is headed to its second consecutive College Cup after taking down top-seeded Duke 2-1 Friday in an NCAA quarterfinal match. It will the program's 12th College Cup appearance and the third time it has gone in back-to-back seasons. The last time was 2001-02.

The Broncos (15-5-2) got two first half goals from Izzy D'Aquila and Kelsey Turnbow and made it standup despite the Blue Devils' (16-4-1) edge in the offensive end of the field.

Defending national champion Santa Clara, which has won nine straight NCAA Tournament matches, now gets to play in front of its home crowd in the College Cup. The national semifinals are set for Friday, Dec. 3, and the final on either Sunday, Dec. 5, or Monday, Dec. 6, in Stevens Stadium.

Duke ended the night with 12 shots and five on target while Santa Clara had just three shots, with just the two goals being on frame, but it was enough to survive and advance. It was just the third time this year the Blue Devil's allowed multiple goals. They entered third in the country allowing just .489 goals per match.

The first shot of the night for Santa Clara netted the first goal of the match. Turnbow's pass found Skylar Smith and a deflection off a shot was perfectly placed for D'Aquila to knock it into the back of the net.

Just three and a half minutes later, the Broncos struck again. This time Marisa Bubnis found Turnbow who finished a beautiful shot to make it 2-0.

Duke got on the board in the 62nd minute on a header just out of Kylie Foutch's grasp. Olivia Migli got a head on a ball that Foutch was able to get her fingertips on it but it slipped through and over the end line to cut the lead to 2-1.

Foutch had a good night in net overall, coming up with four saves.

The Broncos will play BYU in one national semifinal. Florida State and Rutgers are set to meet in the other one.
