No. 8 Women's Soccer Drops Tight Contest at No. 4 UCLA

LOS ANGELES – In a top-10 showdown on the road, No. 8 Santa Clara women's soccer created plenty of chances but couldn't score and fell at No. 4 UCLA 1-0 on Thursday night.

The Broncos (3-2-2) put pressure on the Bruins (5-0) from the start and ended up with 18 shots and nine on target but lacked in their finishing in front of goal. They managed to hold UCLA to just six shots, three on frame, but the Bruins made one of their few chances count.

The lone tally came in the 23rd minute and was UCLA's first dangerous chance of the night. Madelyn Desiano sent a pass to Reilyn Turner a few steps inside the box and she knocked it past goalkeeper Kylie Foutch and into the top of the net.

Foutch was starting in place of usual starter Marlee Nicolos and finished the night with two saves, including a pretty stop against Turner in the 67th.

On the other side, Lauren Brzykcy came up big, making nine saves.

Izzy D'Aquila was the most common victim of Brzykcy, firing off six shots, all on target, including two nicely placed attempts in the 75th and 77th minutes.
