Highlights
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Seattle University came into Stevens Stadium and left with a 2-2 draw against No. 10 Santa Clara women's soccer on Thursday night.
The two teams played a very even first half but the Broncos (1-0-2) held a lead at the break thanks to a goal in the second minute off the foot of Alex Loera from Kelsey Turnbow's corner kick. Shots were 5-4 in the opening half in favor of Santa Clara.
Some sketchy defense midway through the second half cost the Broncos a pair of goals and allowed the Redhawks (1-1-1) to take a lead. After a bad pass back led to an easy shot for Leahi Manthei in the 63rd minute to tie the score, an own goal by Santa Clara in the 67th gave the Broncos their first deficit of the season.
Santa Clara stormed back and was able to even the game in the 76th off the foot of Turnbow and continued to press the Redhawk defense but couldn't break through again.
In the end, Santa Clara outshot Seattle 24-9 with an 11-7 edge in shots on goal. The Broncos had a 12-2 edge in shots in the second half and 7-3 in the two overtimes but their finishing wasn't there.
Not to missed was the goalkeeper play of Jessica Berlin who stepped up huge for the Redhawks and made nine saves. Marlee Nicolos had five for Santa Clara.

- Santa Clara is now 3-0-1 all-time against Seattle.
- Kelsey Turnbow continued her climb up Santa Clara's all-time lists with her 49th career goal. She remains in sixth place, behind No. 5 Mikka Hansen and her 52 goals. The assist was her 27th and moved her into a tie with Nikki Serlenga for 10th all-time at Santa Clara. Next is Osborne with 34. The three points also put Turnbow at 123, and moved her past Leslie Osborne and into seventh. Next is Aly Wagner's 127.
