Men's Golf Heads to El Macero Classic

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's golf is set to play its fifth of six regular season tournaments.

UC Davis will serve as the host for the El Macero Classic, a three-day, 15-team event that begins on Saturday at El Macero Country Club in El Macero, California.

Matt McCarty, Jack Avrit, Berk Harvey, Oscar Zimmerman and Alex Conley will comprise the Santa Clara team on the par-72, 7,110-yard course.

McCarty leads Santa Clara in stroke average this season at 71.83 and has posted a pair of top 10 finishes. Avrit is second in scoring average at 72.83.

The Broncos are joined by fellow West Coast Conference schools LMU, Pacific, Saint Mary's and San Francisco in this event.

Cal Poly, Fresno State, Cal State Fullerton, Idaho, Long Beach State, Nevada, Sacramento State, UT-Rio Grande Valley and Washington State round out the field.

UC Davis is concurrently serving as host for the Wildhorse Individual Tournament. That event will feature individual entries from the teams in the El Macero Classic.

Santa Clara's Konrad Brauckmeyer, Nolan Forsman, Alejandro Gutierrez, Zack Kaneshiro and Johnny Ward will participate in that event which will be held at Wildhorse Golf Club in Davis, California.
