Men's Golf Completes Two Rounds of PING Cougar Classic

PROVO, Utah - Santa Clara men's golf was able to complete its opening two rounds of the PING Cougar Classic, but six teams were not due to darkness on Friday at Riverside Country Club.

The Broncos have an 11-over-par 587 (292-295) with their opening-round total placing them 17th. They are unofficially in 15th after 36 holes.

San Francisco leads the field at 20-over, but has not completed its second round. Colorado State is the leader in the clubhouse with a 13-under 563. The Rams are tied with host BYU which has not finished round two.

Matt McCarty is at even-par 144 in a tie for 30th while Berk Harvey (74-73) and Jack Avrit (73-74) are each at 3-over in a tie for 55th for Santa Clara.

Rounding out the lineup for the Broncos are Oscar Zimmerman, who carded a 5-over 149 (76-73) and is tied for 69th, and Nolan Forsman, who is tied for 92nd at 9-over 153 (77-76).

Hugo Townsend of Boise State and Tim Widing of San Francisco are each tied for 10-under to sit atop the leaderboard. Jack Trent of UNLV is the leader in the clubhouse at 7-under.

The second round will be completed on Saturday ahead of the last 18 holes. Final round tee times are scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m. Mountain on the par-72, 7,142-yard course. Follow scoring at Golfstat.com.
