Men's Golfer Selected to NCAA Championship

INDIANAPOLIS - Matt McCarty of Santa Clara men's golf will make his second appearance in the NCAA Championship.

The fifth-year senior was selected as an individual and will participate in the regional at Tumble Creek Golf & Country Club in Cle Elum, Washington, on May 17-19.

That is one of six regionals around the nation that will be held on those dates.

Thirteen teams and 10 individuals not on one of those programs will compete at three regionals while the other three, including the one in Washington, will have 14 teams and five individuals.

The University of Washington will serve as the host for the 54-hole event with the top five teams and the individual with the lowest total not on those squads advancing to the NCAA final on May 28-June 2 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.

McCarty, ranked No. 65 nationally by Golfstat.com, was a member of the 2018 Santa Clara team which advanced to the NCAA Regional in Raleigh, N.C.

A three-time first team All-West Coast Conference pick, McCarty has four top-10 finishes this season and is sporting a 71.00 stroke average.

He is seeded No. 2 among individuals at the regional.
