Women's Basketball Welcomes Fifth Year Senior Transfer Devin Hudson

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball has added Devin Hudson of Inglewood, Calif. to the 2015-16 team. Hudson, a graduate student, comes to Santa Clara from Long Beach State. She attended Colony High School in Ontario, Calif.

"When I first started talking to assistant coach Shandrika Lee, I instantly felt a connection She was so warm and caring and I could tell it was genuine," said Hudson. "When I finally talked to Coach JR I knew Santa Clara was right for me. I could tell that the coaches are genuine, loving people. They welcomed me in as a fifth-year with no hesitation and I am truly proud to be a Bronco."

"Devin had a great career at Long Beach and was part of a very historic season for them last year," said Santa Clara head coach JR Payne. "We are excited to bring someone with her experience and ability to Santa Clara."

As a junior Hudson averaged 7.6 points and a team-best 6.4 rebounds per contest. She ranked third in the Big West in field goal percentage (50.0) and sixth in blocks per game (0.89) while leading the 49ers with five double-doubles.

She sat out the 2013-14 season Sat out the season due to an injury.

As a sophomore Hudson earned All-Big West Honorable Mention recognition and was named to the All-Big West Tournament Team. In 32 games and 24 starts she led the team in rebounding (8.8 rpg) and field goal percentage (49.2) while adding 9.8 points and 1.0 blocks per contest.

As a freshman she played in 21 games, making 10 starts and averaged 6.0 points and a team-high 5.9 rebounds per outing.

In high school she helped Colony High School to the CIF-Southern Section Division IAA quarterfinals as a junior. She garnered All-Mt. Baldy League and all-valley honors and led the league in rebounding (7.6 rpg) and ranked second in scoring (17.4 ppg).

Her father Eldrige played under former UNLV coach Jerry Tarkanian.

In her free time she enjoys reading, watching movies, and listening to music.
