Women's Basketball Starts Tough Road Trip at San Diego Thursday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Riding a six-game winning streak, Santa Clara women's basketball hits the road for the toughest road trip of the year. The Broncos start the week at San Diego Thursday at 6 p.m. Last week the Broncos won a thriller at San Francisco 59-57.

Santa Clara is outscoring opponents 65.4-57.3 and outrebounding teams 41.5-33.0. The Broncos are No. 16 in the country with 16.4 offensive rebounds per game and their +8.5 rebound margin is No. 25 nationally.

As a team Santa Clara forces 22.4 turnovers per game, which is eighth in the country. The Broncos are fourth nationally in steals (294) and steals per game (12.8).

Santa Clara shoots 39.8 percent from the floor and has made 87 3-pointers. The Broncos are 12th in the country with 510 free throw attempts and No. 24 with 343 free throws made.

Lori Parkinson leads the team in scoring (11.2 ppg) and rebounding (6.4 pg). She is second with 49 steals and third with 44 assists.

Savanna Hanson leads the Broncos with 2.4 assists per game and 23 3-pointers made. She scores 8.9 ppg and is third with 2.2 steals per game.

Taylor Berry is No. 45 in the country with 56 steals and adds 7.1 ppg to go with 3.9 rpg.

Santa Clara is 32-37 all-time vs. San Diego with the first meeting coming in 1984-85. Earlier this season the Toreros topped the Broncos in Leavey.

San Diego is outscoring opponents 71.1-58.3 and outrebounding teams 37.3-34.4. The Toreros shoot 43.2 percent from the floor and 31.8 percent from 3-point land.

Malina Hood leads the team in scoring with 18.9 ppg and has hit a team-best 57 3-pointers. She is also tied for the WCC lead with 2.5 spg.

Maya Hood leads the team with 9.2 rpg and is second with 14.9 ppg. She is tied with Mal. Hood with 2.5 spg.

Cori Woodward is second in the conference with 4.5 apg and is adding 7.1 ppg as well.
