SANTA CLARA, Calif. – With her team riding a four-game winning streak, Santa Clara women's basketball sophomore forward Morgan McGwire has been named the West Coast Conference co-Player of the Week and the College Sports Madness National High-Major Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She shares WCC honor with GeAnna Luaulu-Summers of Pacific. McGwire led the Broncos to three wins last week, including an upset at No. 13 Stanford.

"It's such an honor to be recognized," said McGwire. "It's all because of my teammates. We had a great win at Stanford, which brought us a lot of momentum going forward. Road games are always tough but with the help of the team and coaches we were able to have a successful road trip."

"It has been really fun to see Morgan [McGwire] have so much success over the past several weeks," said Santa Clara head coach JR Payne. "She has worked hard to expand her game. It's great to see her earn a Player of the Week honor."

McGwire averaged 16.3 points per game on the week in 33.3 minutes per game. She shot 55.9% (19-34) from the floor and 36.4% (4-11) from beyond the arc. McGwire added 7.3 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game while collecting five steals and two blocks.
