Women's Basketball Faces Hope International Sunday Afternoon

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Coming off a record setting win, Santa Clara women's basketball plays Hope International at home on Sunday at 2 p.m.  The Broncos topped Simpson 112-34 on Friday night to extend their winning-streak to six games.

The Broncos 112 points scored against Simpson was the most in Santa Clara history. The 78-point margin of victory was also the largest in history for women's basketball at Leavey and second biggest in program history (81 at Whittier, 99-18, 1978-79). Santa Clara's 46 fields goals were also tops in history and the 83 field goal attempts is tied for third. The 58 rebounds are tied sixth all-time and the 27 assists are tied fourth.

Morgan McGwire's 14 field goals are tied for third in Santa Clara history.

"Hope International has played some very tough opponents this year and done very well," said Santa Clara head coach JR Payne. "They shoot the three well at all positions and will be a tough matchup on the perimeter. We are happy to be playing at home and are looking to continue to grow as we get closer to WCC play."

Santa Clara (6-2) is scoring 65.1 points per game this season on 40.0% (187-468) shooting from the field. The Broncos are outrebounding teams 42.2-32.6 and forcing 25.3 turnovers. They are picking up 13.6 steals per game and dishing out 13.1 assists per game as well.

Morgan McGwire, the co-WCC Player of the Week, leads Santa Clara with 13.4 ppg on 59.2% (45-76) shooting from the field and has added 5.5 rpg and 1.8 spg. Savanna Hanson is scoring 8.9 ppg and leads the team with 2.8 apg. She is grabbing 3.3 rpg to go with 2.3 spg. Lori Parkinson is tops on the Broncos with 6.5 rpg and is scoring 9.3 ppg. Taylor Berry is averaging a conference-high 3.5 spg while scoring 6.8 ppg and grabbing 3.8 rpg.

This will be the first meeting between Santa Clara and Hope International.

The Royals (4-1) have outscored opponents 344-298 and outrebounded teams 226-220. They are shooting 43.2% (136-315) from the field and 29.7% (22-74) from beyond the arc.

Marissa Rendon leads the team with 13.4 ppg on 47.1% (24-51) shooting from the field and is tied for the team-lead with five threes made. She is second on the team with 5.6 rpg and is tied for the lead with 3.2 apg. Jazzmyn Oliver is tops on the roster with 6.0 rpg and is scoring 8.8 ppg to go with 1.6 bpg. Alexis Perry scores 11.8 ppg with 3.0 rpg and 3.2 apg.
