SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Sophomore forward Morgan McGwire scored a career-high 30 points to lead five players in doubles figures as Santa Clara women's basketball easily rolled past Simpson, 112-34, Friday night.

Junior forward Lori Parkinson scored 18 and senior forward Devin Hudson posted a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds for the Broncos, who tallied 100 for the fourth time in school history and won for the sixth-straight outing, the longest streak for the program since capturing seven in a row Dec. 1, 2007 through Jan. 4, 2008.

The 78-point differential is the second largest in school history, trailing only a 99-18 win at Whittier on Dec. 11, 1978. It was the biggest margin ever in the Leavey Center, eclipsing a 111-38 victory vs. Eastern Washington on Nov. 29, 1997.

The Broncos (6-2) forced the Redhawks into 28 turnovers and those led to 41 points.

"The things we've been focusing on in practice the last few days have been all about us," head coach JR Payne said. "We wanted to take care of the ball and have good clean offensive possessions and for the most part we did that."

The Broncos jumped out to a 28-3 lead after one quarter and went on to shoot 67 percent in the second period to cruise to a 60-16 halftime lead. They led by as many as 81 late in the fourth quarter.

Santa Clara shot 55 percent from the field and used its size to dominate in the paint. The Broncos outrebounded Simpson, which plays in the California Pacific Conference in NAIA, by a 58-22 margin.

"Our forwards are very long and mobile for us," Payne said. "Morgan and Devin have been great scorers and we knew with our size advantage those two would have big nights."

McGwire hit 14 of 15 from the field and Parkinson was 8-for-10.

The Broncos had seven players 6 feet or taller see action, while the Redhawks had only freshman forward Shayla Smothers, at 6-foot, able to match up in size.

Freshman guard Kelsie Jurin scored a team-high 16 points for the Redhawks, who shot just 25 percent from the field, including 2-for-20 from behind the 3-point line.

Kyla Martin (14 points) and Marie Bertholdt (11 points) also hit double figures for the Broncos, who play Hope International at home Sunday.
