Meet the Future of Santa Clara Women's Basketball: Naomi Jimenez

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball welcomes wing Naomi Jimenez from Albrightsville, Penn. as one of three members of the signing class of 2016-17. Jimenez attended Westtown School and was coached by Carrie Timmins.

"I chose Santa Clara because of its welcoming atmosphere, as well as its athletic and academic standings," said Jimenez. "There is a great balance of academics and athletics that I am very excited to be a part of. I feel as though I will be able to continue growing and I look forward to a new lifestyle on the west coast. Continuing my education at Santa Clara will be an amazing experience."

"Naomi is a fabulous young lady who will bring some east coast personality to our team," said Santa Clara head coach JR Payne. "She is student body president and a tremendous leader. Naomi will bring a level of athleticism and slashing ability to our program that we don't have right now and I expect her to have a great impact on next year's team."

Jimenez was named all-league for basketball as a junior and as a sophomore. As a junior she scored 357 points, grabbed 189 rebounds, dished out 29 assists, had 24 steals, and blocked 39 shots. As a sophomore she scored 295, had 106 rebounds, eight assists, 30 steals, and 33 blocks.

She also played for the New Jersey Sparks AAU team in the EYBL.

Jimenez was the student body president and a member of Students of Color Association. In her free time she enjoys volleyball and dancing.
