No. 24 Women's Soccer Picks Up Road Win at Pacific

STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 24 Santa Clara women's soccer went on the road for the first time in conference play and picked up a convincing 3-0 win at Pacific Wednesday night.

The Broncos (7-5-1, 1-0-1) were in control from the very beginning and spent almost the entire game on the attack. They outshot the Tigers (3-9, 0-2 WCC) 19-6 while holding a 13-2 advantage in shots on frame and a 9-1 edge in corner kicks.

It took less that 15 minutes for Santa Clara to get on the board. Kelsey Turnbow caught the Pacific keeper off her line in the 14th and sent a long ball over her head and into the back of the net to give the Broncos a 1-0 lead in the early going.

Santa Clara doubled its lead to 2-0 in the 35th minute when Emma Reeves knocked in a loose ball that was bouncing around in front of goal for the first of her career.

The final goal of the night came on a beautiful long pass from Julie Doyle that found the head of Kelcie Hedge in the box who knocked it inside the far post to make it a 3-0 Santa Clara lead.

Courtney Ogren and Sophie Whitehouse both made one save and combined for Santa Clara's sixth clean sheet of the year.

Tigers keeper Weronika Baranowska finished with 10 saves.

NOTES

  • Santa Clara is now 13-0 all-time against Pacific.
  • The Broncos didn't make a sub until the 59th minute when they subbed in eight players.
