No. 20 Women's Soccer Plays at Portland Saturday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 20 Santa Clara women's soccer travels up the coast to take on West Coast Conference rival Portland Saturday at 7 p.m.

The Broncos rolled to a pair of victories last week, winning at Pacific 3-0 and topping San Diego 6-0 at home.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 20-15-3 all-time against Portland with the first meeting coming in 1984. Last season the Broncos topped the Pilots 3-2 in overtime at Stevens Stadium and have won the last five matchups.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (8-5-1, 2-0-1 WCC) is tied for seventh in the nation with 2.71 goals per game and has outscored its opponents 38-17. The Broncos have a 225-125 edge in shots and a 114-68 advantage in shots on goal. They are also third in the country with 43 assists and 3.07 assists per game.

The offense is led by a pair with 20-plus points each. Izzy D'Aquila has scored a team-high 10 goals which is tied for 20th nationally and is second in the WCC while adding two assists for 22 points, fourth in the conference. Kelsey Turnbow is tied for ninth in the country with nine assists and has added nine goals for 27 points, tied for 13th in the nation.

Reigning WCC Player of the Year Kelcie Hedge has scored four goals and added five assists for 13 points. Maddy Gonzalez has 11 points with four goals and three assists and Machaela George has 10 points behind six assists and two goals.

Courtney Ogren has started all 14 matches in net and allowed 17 goals. She has 47 saves and a .734 save percentage. Santa Clara has seven shutouts as a team, including four in the last five games.

THE PILOTS
Portland (4-4-3, 0-2-1 WCC) has been outscored on the year 15-13 and outshot 148-102 while trailing in shots on goal 64-36.

Taryn Ries leads the team with four goals, four assists, and 12 points. MJ Roe and Kimberly Hazlett have each scored twice with five others scoring once apiece. Ellie Walker is the only other Pilot with more than one assist and she has two.

Jenny Wahlen has allowed 15 goals in 11 matches and made 46 saves for a .754 save percentage. She has three shutouts this year.
