Hedge Selected in First Round of NWSL Draft

BALTIMORE, Md. – Santa Clara women's soccer redshirt senior Kelcie Hedge was taken in the first round of the 2020 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) Draft with the ninth overall pick by Reign FC.

After transferring to Santa Clara, Hedge started in all 64 games she played over three years while scoring 13 goals and adding 16 assists. This past season, she tied for the team lead and 22nd in the nation with 10 assists, nabbing her Second Team All-West Region and Second Team All-WCC.

As a junior in 2018, Hedge was the WCC Player of the Year, a MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist, First Team All-America, First Team All-West Region, and First Team All-WCC. She was also named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team at Washington in 2015.

Hedge is the program's first first round pick since Julie Ertz was taken third overall in 2014 by the Chicago Red Stars.
