Meet the Future of Bronco Baseball – Malcolm Williams

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the eighth member of the 2021 recruiting class, Malcolm Williams, a dual-sport athlete from Lake Oswego High School in Lake Oswego, Oregon.

"I chose Santa Clara because they offer the classes and curriculum that is best suited for me to develop and prepare for a future outside of sports," said Williams, a National Honor Society member.  "I also found the baseball program as a great fit for me.  I believe that the coaching staff and players can give me the best guidance and training possible to achieve and reach beyond my goals as an athlete."

The 6-foot-2 Williams earned second-team all-state recognitions in baseball and football.

On the diamond, the right-handed hitting middle infielder was named to the 2019 Perfect Game Northwest Prospect Showcase's top prospect list.   On the gridiron, the ball-hawking safety intercepted five passes during the 2019 regular season to help the Lakers to the 6A state championship game.

"Malcolm is a super athletic middle infielder out of Lake Oswego High.  After being ranked the number five player in Oregon, we see him excelling defensively up the middle," said Broncos head coach Rusty Filter.  "As a dual-sport athlete, we are excited to combine his football intensity to his baseball skills as a Bronco."

Our next future Bronco, Blake Hammond, will be announced the week of January 11.
