SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara baseball banged out a season-high 18 hits including five extra-base hits to defeat UC San Diego 13-6 on Saturday afternoon.

Every Bronco starter had at least one base hit with seven players collecting multiple hits led by Coleman Brigman and Tony Boetto who had three hits apiece.

Jake MacNichols and Eamonn Lance each hit a home run and drove in four runs for the Broncos who have won two of the first three games in the series that will conclude on Sunday.

The Broncos (6-8) jumped on UC San Diego starter Brandon Weed early scoring five runs in the opening frame by sending nine batters to the plate to set the tone.  MacNichols put the Broncos on the scoring column with his fourth home run of the season, a three-run shot over the center field wall to give Santa Clara a 3-0 lead.  SCU hit for a cycle in the inning as Bowes followed with a single and came home on a Lance triple before an RBI double by Boetto.

Cole Kitchen (3-0) scattered three hits, struck out four and walked two over five scoreless innings to pick up his third win of the season.

In the fourth, with the Broncos ahead 7-0, Lance blasted a three-run home run to give SCU a 10-0 lead to knock out Weed (0-2) who suffered the loss.

Santa Clara added three more runs on three hits in the seventh to stretch the lead to 13-0 before UCSD (2-9) scored all six of their runs in the final three innings.  

Logan White and Michael Fuhrman each had two hits and drove in three runs between them.  

NOTES
• The home run by Jake MacNichols was his 41st career home run, adding to his school record.  
• Eamonn Lance has safely reached base in 8 of 15 plate appearances this series.  
• Santa Clara's previous season-high hit total was 13 against Stanford (Feb. 28).
