NOTES

  • The Broncos are coming off a 78-62 victory over Ga. Southern. Sophomores Brandin Podziemski (34) and Carlos Stewart (14) combined for 48 of the team's 78 pts.

  • Podziemski is the first player in school history and first in the WCC since at least 2000 to open a career with back-to-back 30 pt games.

  • Podziemski is one of just four players in NCAA D1 over the last 10 seasons to avg 30 ppg and 10 reb through two games.

  • Podziemski is the first Bronco since Jared Brownridge (2014) to record back-to-back 30 pt games, as well as the first to have multiple 30 point games in his debut season (also Brownridge).

  • Podziemski ranks 2nd nationally in ppg (32.0), 3rd in pts (64) and 23rd in steals (7).

  • Herb Sendek needs just one win to reach 100 for his Santa Clara career. He is also just four wins away from tying Hall of Famer John Chaney for 67th most all-time in NCAA D1 History.

  • Utah State has opened the season with back-to-back victories thanks in part to some fantastic 3-point shooting (28th nationally at 44.2 percent) and rebounding (plus-14 rebounding margin). Led by second year head coach Ryan Odum, the Aggies were picked to finish eighth in the Mountain West in the annual preseason poll.

  • Monday's game will be the 10th all-time meeting between the programs. The teams last met on Nov. 19, 2014 in Logan with Utah State coming out on top 60-54. SCU's last win over the Aggies came on Dec. 23, 2006 (77-75 in OT).

  • Entering his sophomore season with just two starts under his belt, Carlos Stewart has been nothing short of impressive through two games this year. Starting both games at PG, the Baton Rouge native is averaging 17.0 ppg. He opened the year by scoring a career best 20 pts and followed suit with a 14 pt outing against Georgia Southern.

  • For the first time in program history, Santa Clara has a pair of Gatorade State Players of the Year on their current roster - sophomores Carlos Stewart (Louisiana) and Brandin Podziemski (Wisconsin).

Full game notes are available for both teams in the links above.
