Podziemski Makes History With Fourth WCC Player of the Week Honor

SAN BRUNO, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball guard Brandin Podziemski picked up his fourth West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week Award of the season after yet another dominating two-game stretch to close out the regular season. The sophomore split the honors with LMU's Cam Shelton, making the duo co-players of the week.

With the win, Podziemski now has the most WCC Player of the Week honors in a single season in program history since the award's inception in 1981-82. John Bryant (2008-09), Harold Keeling (1984-85) and Nick Vanos (1984-85) are the only other Broncos to win the award three times in a single season.

Podziemski put on a show in SCU's final two games of the regular season, averaging 24.5 points, 14.0 rebounds, 4.5 assists and one steal over the two games while shooting a combined 58.8 percent from the floor (20-34) and 50 percent from 3-point range (7-14). He began the week by turning in 23 points and a career high-tying 18 rebounds in the Broncos' 91-82 win over Pepperdine. He also had four assists, a steal and a block, and was 10-of-21 shooting against the Waves. The sophomore then followed that performance up with a 26 point, 10 rebound double-double on the road against San Diego. He was incredibly efficient at 10-of-13 shooting (76.9 percent) and 5-of-7 from 3-point range against the Toreros. Podz also had five assists and a steal in the San Diego win.

With back-to-back double-doubles, he extended his streak to four-straight games and has 12 on the year to lead the WCC.

Podziemski has won the award more times than any other player this season.
