Broncos Back In Action Saturday At Pacific

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball is set to make the short trip to Stockton to take on Pacific for a 6 p.m. tip on Saturday at the Alex G. Spanos Center. The game will be aired live on NBC Sports California.

NOTES

  • The Broncos will be playing in just their third true road game on Saturday at Pacific.

  • SCU is coming off a tough, 81-76, loss to No. 9 Gonzaga. Keshawn Justice led all scorers with 22 pts while Parker Braun recorded a double-double of 12 pts and 11 reb.

  • Brandin Podziemski leads the team in PPG (18.7), RPG (8.5) and APG (3.5). He ranks third in the WCC in both PPG and RPG.

  • Podziemski ranks12th nationally with 356 points and 28th with 161 rebounds. He has seven double-doubles, which ranks second in the league and 17th nationally.

  • Keshawn Justice ranks 18th in school history in career scoring (1,418) and needs 19 points to tie for 17th.

  • Justice ranks second nationally in assist-to-turnover ratio (3.93). 

  • Justice leads the WCC and is 21st nationally with 50 3-pointers made and ranks 13th nationally with 142 attempts. 

  • Carlos Stewart ranks 11th in the WCC in ppg (14.6) and fourth in FT percentage (84.6).

  • Santa Clara ranks 20th nationally in rebounds per game (39.9).

  • The Broncos lead the WCC (33rd nationally) with 14.5 fouls per game.

  • Podziemski won WCC Player of the Week honors twice in the first five weeks of the year.  He's the first Bronco since Jared Brownridge in 2016-17 with multiple WCC POTW honors. 

  • Jaden Bediako is tied for third in the  WCC with 21 blocks while Parker Braun sixth with 20. The Broncos are 3rd as a team with 3.6 per game. 

  • Herb Sendek has 524 victories, tied for 65th most all-time in D1 history.

  • With a 12-3 mark, SCU tied for their 2nd most non-conference wins in program history.

  • The Broncos have had two players score 20 or more on three occassions. 

  • Pacific is 10-9 overall and off to a great start in league play with a 3-1 mark. The Tigers, led by second-year head coach Leonard Perry, are the WCC's top 3-point shooting team at 38.7 percent and are fifth in the league with a 45.2 shooting percentage. Pacific averages 74.9 points per game  with Keylan Boone leading the team with 12.5 ppg. 

  • Saturday's game will be the 150th meeting all-time between the program. Santa Clara has won the last four games against the Tigers and holds the lead in the series, 102-47. Last season, the Broncos won 84-70 in Stockton to give Herb Sendek his 500th career victory. They then won 81-59 in Santa Clara.
