Broncos Host Menlo College On Wednesday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Fresh off their stay at the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship, Santa Clara men's basketball is returning home to host a pre-Thanksgiving contest against Menlo College. Tip-off is set for 4:00 p.m. PT on Wednesday and will be streamed live on the WCC Network.

NOTES

  • The Broncos (4-2) are coming off the Baha Mar Hoops Bahamas Championship in which they were 1-1, first defeating DePaul (69-61) before falling in the championship game to UCF (57-50).

  • SCU held DePaul to just 34.4 percent shooting and 19.4 percent from 3-pt range.

  • The win over the Blue Demons was No. 100 for head coach Herb Sendek in his SCU tenure. At 513 career wins, he is now just three away from tying Hall of Famer John Chaney for 67th in NCAA D1 History.

  • Sophomore Brandin Podziemski leads the team in scoring (20.2 ppg) and rebounding (8.6 rpg).  

  • Podziemski is 43rd nationally in ppg (20.2), 25th in total points (101), 15th in double-doubles (2) and 12th in steals (14). 

  • The Broncos are 16-4 in home games dating back to the start of the 2021-22 season.

  • Carlos Stewart is 2nd in the WCC and 44th nationally in FT percentage (92.9).

  • Santa Clara ranks 12th nationally in rebounds per game (44.2) and 16th with 31.2 defensive boards per game. 

  • Menlo College, led by third-year head coach Brendan Rooney, is 6-2 on the year. They will play UC Santa Cruz the night before taking on the Broncos. This will be just the second meeting between the programs. Santa Clara won the first installment, 79-55, on Dec. 16, 2009.
