Men's Hoops Looking To Bounce Back Vs. Portland State

SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara men's basketball is looking to bounce back following their first home loss of the season. The Broncos will host Portland State for a 7 p.m. tip on Tuesday, Dec. 13, as the back half of a doubleheader with the women's team. The game can streamed live on the WCC Network.

NOTES

  • The Broncos are playing in their 4th of nine-straight home games. SCU is 19-5 in home games dating back to the start of the 2021-22 season and is 5-1 on the year.

  • SCU is 8-3 and coming off their first loss at home on the season. The Broncos were defeated 75-64 in their last outing against San Jose State. 

  • Brandin Podziemski has won WCC Player of the Week honors twice in the first five weeks of the year. He's the first Bronco since Jared Brownridge in 2016-17 with multiple WCC POTW honors. 

  • Podziemski ranks second in the WCC in both scoring (19.4) and rebounding (8.9). He's also 20th nationally with four double-doubles and leads the WCC with 24 steals.

  • Carlos Stewart is averaging 19.0 ppg and shooting 62.5 percent from 3PT range in the last four games.

  • Keshawn Justice has scored 11 or more in seven-straight games and is averaging 16.6 ppg during the stretch. He's coming off a season-high 24 pts (5-of-10 3PT). 

  • Santa Clara ranks 21st nationally in rebounds per game (41.0) and 12th in defensive rpg (29.6).

  • Parker Braun (14) and Jaden Bediako (13) are tied for second in the WCC in blocked shots. The Broncos are 3rd as a team with 4.1 per game. 

  • The Broncos lead the WCC and are 19th nationally with just 13.7 fouls per game.
  • Herb Sendek has 518 career victories, good for 66th all-time in NCAA D1 history.
