SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball has completed its first week of practice for the 2019-20 season.

The Broncos averaged 64.1 points per game a year ago on 40.6-percent shooting from the field. They forced 14.9 turnovers per game and picked up 8.2 steals per game as well.

The top five scorers from a year ago are back as well as the players that made all but 10 starts.

Tia Hay, a Preseason All-WCC pick, led the team with 15.5 ppg, 32.3 minutes per game, 4.2 assists per game, 2.0 steals per game, and an 81.5-percent mark from the free throw line.

Also back is Ashlyn Herlihy who led the Broncos with 7.4 rebounds per game and finished second with 10.9 ppg. Lindsey VanAllen will be back for her sophomore campaign after averaging 6.5 ppg last season.

Lauren Yearwood set a program record with 79 blocks during the 2018-19 season while scoring 6.5 ppg and grabbing 6.5 rpg. Senior Emily Wolph scored 6.9 ppg a season ago and led the team in 3-pointers made.

The Broncos will welcome five newcomers to the roster as well. Freshman Ashlee Maldonado, graduate transfer from Stetson Addison Walters, sophomore transfer from Boston College Lana Hollinsworth, and junior college transfer Merle Wiehl will all look to make their mark during the season with sophomore transfer Shayley Harris from UCLA sitting out the season due to NCAA rules.

The season will tipoff November 5 at home against UC Santa Cruz.
