Women's Basketball Faces Road Test at Cal

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball heads back out on the road to play at Cal Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

The Broncos fell to Long Beach State 54-46 Friday in their return home after four consecutive games on the road.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 10-33 all-time against Cal with the first meeting coming in 1963-64. The last meeting was a 79-41 Bears win in Leavey Center.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (4-4) is averaging 71.2 points per game on 43.7-percent shooting from the floor and 32.9-percent from downtown. The Broncos allow 65.2 ppg while forcing 14.0 turnovers per contest as well.

Tia Hay's 12.8 ppg and 3.9 assists per game lead the team. Ashlyn Herlihy is averaging a team high 7.0 rpg to go with 11.6 ppg and Lauren Yearwood leads the team with 15 blocks while scoring 9.9 ppg and grabbing 6.6 rpg. Merle Wiehl has hit a team leading 12 3-pointers and is scoring 9.6 ppg.

THE GOLDEN BEARS
Cal (6-2) has won six in a row, including an 84-80 victory over then-No. 20 Arkansas, since dropping the first two games of the season. The Bears are scoring 73.4 ppg on 43.7-percent shooting while allowing marks of 61.6 and 37.6.

Jaelyn Brown leads a trio of double-digit scorers with 13.9 ppg and adds 6.3 rpg. Alaysia Styles scores 11.0 ppg and grabs 5.6 rpg while Sara Anastasieska scores 10.4 ppg. CJ West leads the team with 8.0 rpg and scores 9.6 ppg with Leilani McIntosh's 4.5 apg leading the Bears.
