Visit From Portland Saturday Next For Women's Basketball

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball welcomes Portland to Leavey Center Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff.

The Broncos fell to No. 16/13 Gonzaga Thursday.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 46-30 all-time against Portland with the first meeting coming in 1986-87. Last season the Broncos beat the Pilots twice and have won 12 in a row in the series.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (8-9, 2-4 WCC) is scoring 72.1 points per game while shooting 43.7-percent from the field and 33.8-percent from downtown. Defensively, the Broncos allow 68.5 ppg and marks of 38.3-percent and 27.4-percent from the floor and downtown.

Tia Hay leads the team with 13.1 ppg and 3.8 assists per game but is currently out with a foot injury. Ashlyn Herlihy scores 9.8 ppg and leads the way with 7.5 rebounds per game. Merle Wiehl has knocked down a team best 26 3-pointers and is second in scoring with 9.9 ppg and grabs 4.8 rpg. Lauren Yearwood is second on the league with 25 blocks while scoring 7.8 ppg and pulling down 6.3 rpg.

THE PILOTS 
Portland (10-7, 3-3 WCC) is scoring 69.9 ppg on 44.3-percent shooting and 33.2-percent from beyond the arc. Defensively, the Pilots allow 62.2 ppg and 40.6-percent shooting.

The big three of Haylee Andrews, Alex Fowler, and Kate Andersen lead the team in scoring. Andrews 17.0 ppg are xxx in the WCC and she leads the team with 5.1 apg. Alex Fowler is scoring 16.4 ppg and grabs a team best 7.9 rpg while Andersen scores 13.7. Maddie Muhlheim had hit a team high 36 3-pointers and scores 9.2 ppg.

Joe Ritzo and Kevin Danna handle play-by-play duties at home on the WCC Network. All Broncos home games and West Coast Conference contests (not on an ESPN platform, CBS Sports Network or BYUtv) will also be streamed through WCC Network. Kevin Danna will call the action in Tuesday's season opener against UC Santa Cruz.

Group discounts are also available through our ticket office sales and service consultants. Doors to Leavey Center, as well as its ticket office, are open one hour prior to the start of the game.

PARKING
For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot (see below for access), located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations). Click here for a campus map and parking restrictions.

The construction of the Stephen C. and Patricia A. Schott Athletic Excellence Center has necessitated the closure of the main entrance (off Accolti Way) to the Leavey Center parking lot. Access is now ONLY directly from El Camino Real (Route 82). If you are traveling east on El Camino Real, the Leavey lot entrance will be approximately 150 yards on the right (enter through the black iron gate) after you pass the main campus entrance. If you are traveling west on El Camino, make a u-turn at the main campus entrance at Palm Drive/Railroad Ave and follow the same directions.
