Women's Basketball Begins Final Push With BYU Thursday

SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball begins the final weekend of home action with a visit from BYU Thursday at 7 p.m.

The Broncos fell at Portland and at No. 15/15 Gonzaga last weekend.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 2-19 all-time against BYU with the first meeting coming in 1998-99. The Cougars won in Provoearlier this season.

THE BRONCOS
Santa Clara (9-16, 3-11 WCC) averages 68.3 points per game on 41.3-percent shooting from the field and 32.5-percent from downtown.

Tia Hay averages a team leading 12.7 ppg and 3.5 assists per game while also leading with 24 steals. Ashlyn Herlihy grabs a team high 7.3 rebounds per game while adding 10.1 ppg. Merle Wiehl has knocked down a team best 32 3-pointers and is scoring 8.8 ppg. Lauren Yearwood leads the Broncos with 34 blocks and adds 6.1 ppg and 5.2 rpg. 

THE COUGARS 
BYU (15-9, 10-4 WCC) scores 60.6 ppg while allowing 54.6. The Cougars are shooting 39.5-percent from the floor and 32.1-percent from downtown while allowing marks of 32.3-percent and 29.2-percent.

Paisley Johnson scores a team high 14.3 ppg and Sara Hamson leads with 8.1 rpg and 109 blocks while scoring 7.3 ppg. Brenna Drollinger had knocked down 50 3-pointers to lead the team and is scoring 11.8 ppg while also leading with 4.25 apg.

Joe Ritzo and Kevin Danna handle play-by-play duties at home on the WCC Network. All Broncos home games and West Coast Conference contests (not on an ESPN platform, CBS Sports Network or BYUtv) will also be streamed through WCC Network. Kevin Danna will call the action in Tuesday's season opener against UC Santa Cruz.

Group discounts are also available through our ticket office sales and service consultants. Doors to Leavey Center, as well as its ticket office, are open one hour prior to the start of the game.

PARKING
For weekday games, the Leavey Center lot (see below for access), located on Accolti Way off El Camino Real, is free beginning one hour prior to tipoff. Any other parking facility on campus will be subject to normal daily rates or restrictions, including the main structure, located adjacent to Stevens Stadium on Palm Drive. During the weekend, campus parking facilities are free (except for permit required locations). Click here for a campus map and parking restrictions.

The construction of the Stephen C. and Patricia A. Schott Athletic Excellence Center has necessitated the closure of the main entrance (off Accolti Way) to the Leavey Center parking lot. Access is now ONLY directly from El Camino Real (Route 82). If you are traveling east on El Camino Real, the Leavey lot entrance will be approximately 150 yards on the right (enter through the black iron gate) after you pass the main campus entrance. If you are traveling west on El Camino, make a u-turn at the main campus entrance at Palm Drive/Railroad Ave and follow the same directions.
