SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara women's basketball faces a tough test at No. 15/15 Gonzaga Saturday at 2 p.m.

The Broncos lost their first game of the week at Portland Thursday.

SERIES HISTORY
Santa Clara is 29-41 all-time against Gonzaga with the first meeting coming in 1987-88. The Zags won in Leavey Center earlier this season.

THE BRONCO
Santa Clara (9-15 3-10 WCC) is scoring 69.2 points per game on 41.4-percent shooting from the field and 32.6-percent from beyond the arc. The Broncos are allowing opponents 69.2 ppg.

Tia Hay is scoring a team best 12.7 ppg and also leads with 3.5 assists per game and 22 steals. Ashlyn Herlihy's 7.5 rebounds per game are tops on the team and she is second in scoring with 10.3 ppg. Merle Wiehl has knocked down a team high 32 3-pointers and is scoring 8.7 ppg with 4.1 rpg.

THE ZAGS
Gonzaga (24-2, 13-1 WCC) is scoring 69.0 ppg on 45.4-percent shooting from the floor and 38.8-percent from downtown. The Bulldogs lead the WCC with 52.1 ppg allowed.

The team is led by a balanced offense with just three players averaging double figures. Jill Townsend leads with 12.3 ppg while adding 5.6 rpg. Katie Campbell scores 11.0 ppg with a team best 47 3-pointers made. Jenn Wirth scores 10.5 ppg and grabs a team leading 6.3 rpg while LeeAnne Wirth scores 9.0 ppg. Jessie Loera dishes out 5.1 assists to lead the team and scores 7.8 ppg.
