It started on the mound with Brandon Gomez who made his first Santa Clara start. Gomez (2-0) allowed just one unearned run over 6 innings of work while punching out seven and not allowing a walk. Cameron Hassert and Craig Larsen both had two hits out of the top two spots in the lineup with both scoring a run and Larsen knocking in a run. August Biggio also had an RBI.
Game 2
The second game of the day turned out to be a pitcher's duel that turned into a walkoff for Santa Clara.
After scoring two in the bottom of the ninth to tie the game, the Broncos closed things out in the home half of the 11th. With D. Brigman on second, Coleman Brigman came up and smashed a walk-off two-run home run to left field.
