Season Ends for Baseball at Fayetteville Regional

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Santa Clara baseball's season came to an end with a 6-4 loss to Arkansas in the NCAA Regionals Sunday night.

Down 4-0 after 4 innings, the Broncos (36-20) battled back with three in the sixth. The Razorbacks (43-17) hit what turned out to be a crucial two-run home run in the eighth for some insurance as Santa Clara battled again in the ninth, scoring a run and even brought the tying run to plate.

Eamonn Lance had the biggest hit of the night for the Broncos, a two-run double to get them on the board. Thomas Ferroggiaro knocked in the ninth inning run with a single.

Brandon Gomez (6-4) got the started and tossed 5 innings while giving up four runs, three earned, on four hits with three walks and six strikeouts and picked up the loss.

Brady Tygart (3-1) went 5 2/3 for Arkansas and got the win. He allowed three runs, two earned, on three hits with three walks and six strikeouts. Hunter Hollan came in and got the final two outs for his first save of the year.

Both Jared Wegner and Kendall Diggs hit home runs for Arkansas with Diggs' being a two-run shot and Wegner's a solo. Jace Bohrofen had two hits, including a double, and added an RBI and a run scored.
