Baseball Finishes Sweep at Pepperdine

MALIBU, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball finished its sweep of Pepperdine with an 11-6 win on Sunday afternoon and has now won five in a row.

The Broncos (23-15, 10-8 WCC) used a four-run third to erase a one-run deficit and then after the Waves (15-25, 7-14 WCC) tied things in the sixth, added on with two runs in each of the seventh, eighth, and ninth innings.

Efrain Manzo led the offense with four hits, including two home runs, five RBIs, and four runs scored. Coleman Brigman added two hits, including a home run, and two RBIs with Michael O'Hara also blasting a two-run home run.

Brandon Gomez (4-2) ended up with the win in just 1/3 of an inning of relief and August Souza went the final 3 innings to collect his third save of the season. Jared Feikes went 5 2/3 innings in the start and got a no-decision. He allowed five runs on four hits with two walks and five strikeouts. 

Grant Schoen and Jack Goodman both had two hits for Pepperdine with Schoen scoring and knocking in a run. Ryan Johnson had a two-run home run and Quintt Landis had a double and scored a pair of runs.

Trevor Kniskern (0-3) suffered the loss in 3 1/3 innings of relief. He allowed a run on two hits with two walks and a strikeout. Starter Bobby Christy went 3 innings in a no-decision, surrendering five runs on five hits with a walk and a strikeout.
