SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball announced the second member of the 2022 recruiting class, Chris Gaudio. The right-handed pitcher from Notre Dame Preparatory in Scottsdale, Arizona led the Saints to the quarterfinals of the 4A State playoffs last season.
"I chose Santa Clara because of the first class athletic facilities and nationally ranked academics," said Gaudio. "The academic side of Santa Clara will be the challenge I need, while renowned Coach Filter and his exceptional coaching staff will push me to be the best version of myself on and off the diamond."
The 2021 Perfect Game Preseason Underclass West Region Honorable Mention posted an impressive 5-to-1 strikeouts to walk ratio in 2021. Gaudio was also part of the 2021 18U PG Fall National Championship squad and made the 2020 PG Fall National Championship upper class all-tournament team.
"Chris has plus pitchability as he already can command the zone with three pitches," said Broncos head coach Rusty Filter. "He has developed nicely within his great high school program, Notre Dame Prep and his CBA club. With his poise, ability and make up, Chris will show up on day one and have a chance to impact the Broncos on the mound."
A member of the National Honor Society, Gaudio has been recognized six times to the Notre Dame Prep Presidential Academic Honor Roll.
Our next future Bronco, Brandon Gomez, will be announced the week of November 29.
