Baseball Sweeps Weekly WCC Awards

SAN BRUNO, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball swept the weekly West Coast Conference awards with Coleman Brigman being named the Player of the Week and Nick Sando taking home Pitcher of the Week as the Broncos continued their hot play with another series win at Pacific. It was the second week in a row the Broncos had the league's top pitcher after Cole Kitchen took home honors last week.

Brigman was the team's top hitter over the weekend, posting a .467/.500/.933 line with seven hits that included three doubles and two triples. He knocked in four runs and scored three while playing his usual terrific defense in center. He stepped up biggest in the rubber match Sunday, collecting two doubles, two triples, and four RBIs.

Sando was lights out in a 4 inning save in the series opener Friday. He surrendered just three hits while punching out 10 without allowing a walk. The outing lowered his ERA to 1.09, good for 11th in the country. He is also now 20th nationally with 13.65 strikeouts per nine innings.

The Broncos, currently in a tie for second in the league standings, are back in action Thursday through Saturday at BYU.
