SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Santa Clara baseball announced the fifth member of the 2022 recruiting class, Jace Root, a left-handed pitcher from San Joaquin Delta College in Stockton, California.

"I chose Santa Clara University because I liked the overall feel of the team and coaches," said Root.  "The coaches are giving me great opportunities to be a better player and person. I also fell in love with the campus, and it's a great school academically."

The 6-foot-2, 190 pound southpaw is originally from Robinson, Illinois but played his prep ball at Valencia High in Southern California where he had over a 4.0 GPA and threw a no-hitter.

"Jace will come in right away and log innings for the Broncos as he commands four pitches from the left side," said Santa Clara head coach Rusty Filter.  "He addresses a need for our staff and will add depth to our rotation. We know he is a competitor coming in from one of the best junior colleges in the country via San Joaquin Delta."

Our next future Bronco, Caden Thompson, will be announced the week of December 20.
