SANTA CLARA, Calif. – No. 4 Stanford scored five in the first and never looked back in a 19-0 victory over Santa Clara baseball.
Four home runs highlighted the offensive attack for the Cardinal (34-14), including a grand slam by Drew Bowser in the first. Brock Jones, Braden Montgomery, Kody Huff, Brett Barrera all went deep as well. Nine Stanford players had a hit, 10 scored a run, and nine had an RBI.
In a bullpen game, Tommy O'Rourke (2-5) tossed 2 one-hit innings and got the win.
The Broncos (24-26) offense consisted of singles by Dawson Brigman, Coleman Brigman, and Thomas Gould. Santa Clara also took three walks.
Alex Reelfs (4-7) started and got the loss in 2 innings. He allowed six runs, but just one earned due to an error to start the game, on six hits with two walks and three strikeouts.
NOTES
- Santa Clara finished 16-9 at home. The 16 wins were the most since 2016 and the .600 winning percentage was the best in a full season since .601 in 2012. The Broncos went 5-1 in home series.
