Baseball Falls at No. 24 TCU

FORT WORTH, Texas – No. 24 TCU beat Santa Clara baseball 10-3 on Friday night.

The Horned Frogs (34-18) offense got going early and went 5-for-13 with runners in scoring position and 5-for-13 with two outs on the night to help lead the charge.

Porter Brown had a big night, finishing 2-for-2 with a home run, a double, a walk, three runs scored, and four RBIs. Gray Rodgers and Reed Spenrath both added two hits apiece and Rodgers, Tommy Sacco, and Luke Boyers each crossed the place twice. Brayden Taylor knocked in three with a triple and a sac fly.

Marcelo Perez started and kept the Broncos (24-28) off balance for 6 shutout innings. Perez (6-2) allowed just four hits with a walk and four strikeouts.

Santa Clara's offense put something together in the seventh, highlighted by Dawson Brigman's two-run single, and again in the ninth. In the final frame, Efrain Manzo worked a 10-pitch at-bat after falling behind 0-2 and ended up with an RBI double to deep right center.

Matt Jew and Alex Lambeau both had three-hit games. Jew had two doubles and Lambeau had a double and scored a run. Despite entering as a pinch hitter in the fifth, Manzo finished with a pair of hits.

Skylar Hales (3-3) started and took the loss in 4 2/3 innings. He allowed eight runs on eight hits with four walks and four strikeouts.
