SANTA CLARA, Calif. – Santa Clara baseball released its 2022 schedule featuring 18 games against Power Five conference schools and play four teams that qualified for the 2021 NCAA Tournament as well as two series in Texas.
The Broncos will play a total of 52 regular season games including 24 at Stephen Schott Stadium. The Broncos will play six games against four squads – Arizona State, Gonzaga, Stanford and TCU – that competed in last season's NCAA tournament.
Santa Clara opens its season on the road at USC on Feb. 18 as part of eight-straight games against Pac-12 and Big 10 opponents. After a three-game series against the Trojans (Feb. 18-20), the Broncos face Stanford (Feb. 22) in a midweek road contest before the home opener on Feb. 25 against Northwestern to start a four-game series. The Broncos close out a seven-game homestand, the longest of the season, when UC San Diego comes into town (March 4-6).
Before starting the West Coast Conference slate, the Broncos travel to face Cal (March 8) and head to the Lone Star State to take on SEC's Texas A&M (March 11-13).
The WCC schedule is comprised of four series at home and five on the road, starting at San Francisco (March 18-20). The Broncos play conference road series at Pacific (April 1-3), BYU (April 7-9), San Diego (April 29-May 1) and Gonzaga (May 13-15).
The home WCC series include LMU (March 25-27), Saint Mary's (April 14-16), Pepperdine (April 22-24) and Portland (May 6-8).
Midweek games include home-and-home games against Stanford (Feb. 22 and May 17), San Jose State (March 22 and April 19) and Cal Poly (March 29 and April 26). The other midweek games are home contests against a pair of Pac-12 schools, Washington State (March 23) and Arizona State (April 11).
Santa Clara will close out the regular season with another trip to Texas, this time to face TCU (May 19-21) from the Big 12 conference.
The top-four teams from the conference standings will participate in the 2022 WCC Conference Championship from May 26-28. The winner of the conference tournament will earn an automatic berth to the NCAA Division I Regionals.
